Thornton and SourceOne Meet with Tianjin Binhai New Area Investment Holding Co., Ltd 04/21/2008 Thornton Thornton Chairman Jim Bulger, CEO Michael Lin and EVP of SourceOne Tom Galvin met with General Manager Li and the senior management team of Tianjin Binhai New Area Investment Holding Co., Ltd to discuss future cooperation on a waste-treatment facility in Tianjin Binhai New Area. Listed in China's "11th Five-Year Plan" (2006-2010), Tianjin Binhai New Area is expected to follow Shenzhen and Shanghai Pudong New Area and become the third growth pole to boost China's economic development in the next two decades of the strategic opportunity period. It will strive to turn into a modernized new area that relies on the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, serves the Bohai Bay region, radiates to the northeast, north and northwest China, and reaches out to Northeast Asia. Faced with difficult issues of growing urban waste volumes, the Tianjin government plans to build a national first-class comprehensive waste treatment facility in Bohai New Area, including Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) treatment, construction waste treatment, industrial waste treatment and sewage water treatment. The first phase of this project will focus on the MSW power plant with the capacity of processing 2,000 tons of garbage per day. Thornton and SourceOne senior management advised Tianjin Binhai New Area Investment Holding Co., Ltd on the development, operation and financing of the waste treatment facility in the Tianjin Binhai New Area. Mr. Li looked forward to a deeper cooperation between Tianjin Binhai New Area Investment Holding Co., Ltd and Thornton & SourceOne. Thornton’s CEO Michael Lin was grateful for his offer and expressed keen interest in this cooperation.
