Thornton and Jining Municipal Government Signed MOU on WTE Project

Thornton has successfully signed an MOU with Jining Municipal Government to develop a WTE plant in Jining, Shandong Province.

Jining lies in the southwest part of Shandong Province, with a population of 8.1 million people. As the hometown of Confucius, Jining is a city with abundance of cultural heritage as well as natural resources such as water, coal and iron ore. In recent years, rapid economic growth has taken place in Jining.

CEO Michael Lin from Thornton and Mayor Mr. Zhang, Vice Mayor Mr. Wang and other senior government officials from Jining Municipal Government attended the signing ceremony. Representatives from Thornton's long-term business partners, Leighton Asia and China Life also joined the signing ceremony.

According to the initial design, the WTE plant in Jining will have the capacity of processing 1,000 -1,200 tons of waste everyday and the total investment will be around RMB400 million.
