Thornton deepens the connection and cooperation between Hangzhou and Boston

Thornton assisted Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Area (HEDA)’s second visit to Boston.      The focus of the trip was the Biotech industry cooperation between Hangzhou and Boston.

 Led by Mr. Qu Wei, director general of the Investment Bureau of Hangzhou Economic Development Area (HEDA),   the Hangzhou Municipal Government delegation visited Boston, Massachusetts on April 9th, 2009.  Delegated by Hangzhou Municipal Government, Thornton arranged the bilateral discussion between the Hangzhou Municipal Government and relative organizations and companies of Boston and Massachusetts.    The discussion focused on biotech cooperation and the establishment of a Boston-Hangzhou Biotech Park in HEDA.

 With Thornton’s assistance, the Hangzhou Municipal Government successfully met with his honorable William M. Bulger, former President of the Massachusetts Senate,   Mr. Chris Anderson,  the President of Massachusetts High Tech Council,  Mr. Jack M. Wilson, the President of the University of Massachusetts,  William H. Guenther, the President of Mass Insight Corporation,   senior management of Pfizer, Boston Global Bridge Institute,Broad Land Advisors and the other 18 renowned biotech companies.

Mr. Chris Anderson warmly welcomed Hangzhou guests and introduced the Boston High Tech Council to them. In accordance,  Mr. Qu gave        a detailed introduction of HEDA and the plan of building a Boston-Hangzhou Biotech Park in HEDA.At the same time, Mr.Yang, senior manager    at Booz Co.,    introduced Hangzhou’s unique advantages and huge potential for biotech industry development.  Both sides expressed keen interest in working together to strengthen the biotech cooperation between Hangzhou and Boston and the establishment of the Boston-Hangzhou Scientific Park in HEDA.
