2009 Sino-US Summit Officially Initiated

Stephen G. Lakis, President of SLLF, and Michael Lin, Thornton CEO&SLLF Asia/China Bureau Chief, met with Mr. Peng Fang, Director General of Foreign Affairs Committee of National People’s Congress in the Great Hall of the People on Tuesday. Mr. Wei Xin, Chairman of the board for PKU Founder Group, and other Chinese delegates also attended the meeting.

On his third visit to China, Mr. Stephen Lakis was warmly welcomed by the Chinese side. During the meeting, both sides constructively discussed the planning of 2009 Sino-US Summit in Beijing and agreed that early November of 2009 is good timing for the Summit. It has been confirmed that during this event, legislative leaders and business leaders from over 30 U.S. states will meet with leaders of national and provincial People’s Congress as well as business leaders from China in Beijing. The discussions will focus on topics that are of importance to both sides, such as climate change and financial cooperation.
