On March, 28th, the delegation of Thornton headed by Vice Chairman Mr. David Callahan paid a visit to Tianjin Binhai New Area on the recommendation of CCPIT and the invitation of Chairman Zhao Xueming of China Chamber of International Commerce Tianjin Chamber of Commerce. Chairman Zhao Xueming and Vice Chairman Song Chijun were also in presence.

ChairmanZhao and the Deputy Director of Zhang Ruigang Management Committee of Tianjin Binhai New Area met with the Thornton guests of in the VIP room at the TEDA Meeting Center. Chairman Zhao welcomed the delegation of Thornton to discuss the cooperation opportunity and to invest in Tianjin Binhai New Area. He hoped that Thornton and Binhai New Area could find projects of common interest, and investigate the possibility of cooperation. Deputy Director Zhang Ruigang also welcomed the representatives of Thornton on behalf of the Standing Committee Member Gou Lijun, and then gave an introduction about Tianjin Binhai New Area. Mr. David Callahan expressed his gratitude to their hospitality. He pointed out that the purpose of Thornton's visit was to gain an understanding of Tianjin Binhai New Area, and to seek opportunities in the renewable energy sector, especially in the waste-to-energy projects. Li Guangzhao, the General Manager of Tianjin Binhai New Area Infrastructure Construction Investments Company Ltd. and the Deputy General Manager of TEDA Environmental Group Gao Liang also attended the meeting.

In the afternoon, leaders of Tianjin Binhai New Area Infrastructure Construction Investments Company Ltd. and TEDA Environmental Group discussed with the representatives of Thornton on the renewable energy projects. Afterwards, Thornton delegation visited a garbage landfill site and the Shuanggang power station.

Thornton guests acclaimed that the visit in Tianjin had broadened their views and helped them to understand the future plans for the development and business demands of Tianjin Binhai New Area. They also planned to make another visit to Tianjin for the further discussion of the details of cooperation between the two sides. Mr. Callahan expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Tianjin CCPIT and Binhai New Area for their hospitality and considerate arrangements. The leaders of the Management Committee of Tianjin Binhai New Area expressed their gratitude to China Chamber of International Commerce Tianjin Chamber of Commerce for introducing Thornton guests to come and discuss the investment in the projects of Tianjin Binhai New Area. They wished that Tianjin CCPIT could make a great contribution to the development of Binhai New District, and play an important role in attracting investment in New District.
