Mr. Brennan, an attorney and former Whip of the Massachusetts State Senate, brings a wealth of policy experience, political insights and personal relationships to Thornton's clients. He provides senior strategic advice and counsel to Thornton's clients built upon more than 20 years of experience as a senior elected legislator and a corporate executive at Cassidy & Associates in Washington DC.

Mr. Brennan, a 14-year veteran of the Massachusetts State Senate and a former State Representative, is a nationally recognized expert on competitive and equitable banking services. As Senate Chairman of the Legislative Joint Committee on Banks and Banking, Mr. Brennan established New England regional banking as a model for Interstate Banking nationwide as chief sponsor. Mr. Brennan served on many key committees and special task forces throughout his Senate career – he participated in the Commonwealth's budget and fiscal policy, legislative redistricting, judiciary and state government reform, small business promotion, and environmental protections.

Mr. Brennan is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and a graduate of Suffolk University and Suffolk University Law School. Mr. Brennan serves as a Trustee and Treasurer of the Malden Public Library, member of the Board of Corporation of the Belmont Hill School, and other civic and charitable activities.

Prior to forming The Brennan Group, Inc., Mr. Brennan served as Vice Chairman of Cassidy & Associates, an Interpublic Group Company, based in Washington D.C. He directed the company's New England operations including strategic planning, direct lobbying and overall public affairs management for a diverse client base.
